Deruta, the name itself is beautiful city. For those who like bright colors and designs, Deruta is a mecca. Since the early Middle Ages, the city known for its brightly colored ceramic and very pattened will be made. Local clay historically a key element for the locally produced ceramics and methods of production. Consistency requires that these pieces of clay baked in the oven at low temperature which changes the type of glaze that can be used. By thousands in recent years, the craftsman Deruta is refined their craft and the documents they produce is beautiful and famous throughout the world.
Deruta is located in the middle of the Tiber valley in Umbria. Part of the historical city of Deruta located high above the valley and part of the old defense walls that surround the city are still visible. We visited Deruta in almost every holiday, and is a favorite with our guests. There are 30 or more in the antique shops and we are free to roam about each. owner is often working on a painting of fruit shoot, so we have a chance to watch craftsmen at work. Although conventional patterns that are widely used each employee has his trademark special or yourself. It’s fun to wander off from shop to shop and the stories of people who live and work in the ancient city of learning.
